AC ST. LOUIS FINISH ROADTRIP IN BALTIMORE

ST. LOUIS, MO (July 23, 2010) – AC St. Louis, playing in the USSF Division 2 Pro League, will visit Crystal Palace Baltimore this Saturday afternoon for a 2:00 p.m. CT kick-off. The match can be viewed live at www.ac-stlouis.com via live web streaming. The match is the last in a four game road swing that has already seen St. Louis visit Minnesota, Austin, and Montreal. AC St. Louis is still looking for their first win on this two week road swing as they are coming off back-to-back losses at Austin and Montreal.

The match Saturday will be the last between these two clubs for the 2010 season. St. Louis and Baltimore were only scheduled to meet two times even though they reside in the same conference. The previous meeting between these clubs came on May 1 in St. Louis with AC registering a 1-0 win for their first ever victory in franchise history.

Baltimore currently sit six points ahead of St. Louis in the standings, making Saturday afternoon’s game an opportunity for St. Louis to pull themselves back into playoff contention. AC St. Louis comes into this match with a record of 1-2-2 over their past five games. Baltimore, meanwhile, is 2-1-2 over their past five. Both clubs have recently posted wins over the Montreal Impact as they each chase a playoff spot, which Montreal occupies.

AC St. Louis will have to make do without Gauchinho. The Brazilian winger was ejected from Wednesday night’s match after an altercation with a Montreal player. Head Coach Dale Schilly will also be with defender Anthony O’Garro, knee, and Dillon Barna, collarbone. The club did make a player personnel move to bolster the backline by acquiring Real Salt Lake defender Chris Schuler on-loan for the next four games. Schuler debuted for St. Louis on Wednesday night in Montreal, and is expected to be in the starting lineup on Saturday in Baltimore. Forward Chris Salvaggione will miss another game as he continues to recover from a left ankle sprain. Jeff Cosgriff will return after serving a one-game suspension for his ejection in last Saturday night’s match in Austin, Texas.

St. Louis will finally get an extended home stand beginning next Wednesday when they host Portland. St. Louis will be home for five straight games through the middle of August as they enjoy their longest stretch of home play this year. In fact, following Saturday’s game in Baltimore AC St. Louis will have eight of their next nine matches at home.

The biggest objective for St. Louis will be to get back on the scoreboard. AC has been shutout in their last two matches, but when scoring first the club is 3-1-2 on the year opposed to 0-9-1 when the opposition gets on the board first.

AC St. Louis next returns home on Saturday July 28 match against the Portland Timbers. Tickets are still available and can be obtained by calling 1-888-STL-GOAL, or by visiting www.ac-stlouis.com.
